STUPID SHIT GAMERS SAY is a website dedicated to archiving the totally random and asanine things that come from between the lips of nerds (particularly gamers) to remind the rest of the world why the majority (note: MAJORITY — not ALL) of these people who identify as “gamers” are the most embarrassing of all subcultures, and that we should never take their hobby seriously.
Playing video games is not a lifestyle choice; it’s a hobby. I’m not a “booker” because I read books, nor am I a “filmer” because I watch films. You’re not a “gamer” because you play video games. Video games are a hobby, just like reading books and watching films; you’re a person who plays video games as a hobby. Period.
In this blog I also plan to address other game-related realities, such as:
- Video games are not pieces of art.
- Video game hobbiests and designers are stuck in the 1950s in terms of sexism, racism/xenophobia, and homophobia.
- “Historical” war games are insensitive and your brave, veteran grandfathers/great grandfathers are clawing their eyes out in their graves.
- Nobody gives a shit about Final Fantasy VII or Ocarina of Time. They haven’t aged well at all, there are far better entries in either franchise, and truly: There are more important things going on in the world.
After reading this, you probably have it in your head that I hate video games and everything related to the industry. No. I love video games. There’s nothing more relaxing than sitting down and getting enveloped in a game that really resonates with me.
It’s just the pandering nerdy bullshit I hate.
